Ingredients
1 pack of pitted dates
Smooth herbed Cottage cheese (optional)
West Peak Meats streaky bacon
Toothpicks
OR
1 pack Oreos (The generic brand works just as well)
West Peak Meats streaky bacon
Braai seasoning (We used the Woolworths brand)
Method:
For the dates:
We made a little incision into the date and added smooth herbed cottage cheese. Secure the bacon and dates with toothpicks and bake for about 30 minutes, until golden brown and crispy. Adding the cottage cheese breaks a bit of the sweetness of the dates.
For the Oreos:
Take one strip of streaky bacon and wrap one Oreo, sprinkle the spice and bake at 180 degrees, half way through turn it over and sprinkle spice again and continue to bake until the bacon is completely cooked.
